VIDEO: SEC Is 1st Conference To Put 4 In Top 5 Of AP Poll
The Southeastern Conference has reached a new milestone in The Associated Press college football poll, becoming the first league to place four teams in the top five ? all from the western division. Mississippi State stayed No. 1 after a weekend off. Alabama jumped three spots to No. 4 after a 59-0 victory against Texas A&M. Auburn moved up a spot to No. 5 during a bye week, taking advantage of losses by previously unbeaten Notre Dame and Baylor.

Frances P. Bradford 89, of Clinton, Arkansas went home to be with her Saviour Thursday, October 16, 2014. She was born August 6, 1925 in Malvern, Arkansas to Sidney A. and Burley A. (McClard) Douglas.
Local Visitation will be 2:00-4:00pm Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel Clinton, Arkansas.
Visitation will be 1:00pm and Funeral Service will be 2:00pm Monday, October 20, 2014 at Otter Creek Assembly of God Church 9415 Stagecoach Road Little Rock, Arkansas with Pastor John Tracy officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Bayou Cemetery New De Roche, Arkansas.

Julia M. Crowe Parrish

Julia M. Crowe Parrish died October 16, 2014 in her home in Donaldson. She was born December 3, 1936 in Wynne, AR and grew up in New York City and moved to Donaldson in the early 60’s.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.

Sandi Holder, age 53, of Malvern passed away Friday, October 17, 2014 at UAMS. She was born August 7, 1961, in Batesville, Arkansas the daughter of Isaac and Tressie Barksdale Coots. Sandi was of the Missionary Baptist faith. She is preceded in death by her father, Isaac Coots; brother, Jack Coots and sister, Peggy Gould.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 19 from 2:00-4:00pm at Regency Funeral Home.

Annie Mae Bishop, age 95 of Malvern, died Thursday, October 16, 2014 in the local hospital. She was born on November 22, 1918 in Ouachita, Arkansas to the late Isaac Yates Dickinson and Minnie Maybell Posey Dickinson.
Her funeral will be at two o’clock Monday afternoon, October 20, 2014 in the sanctuary of Second Baptist Church with Brother Edgar Sutton officiating and under the direction of J. A. Funk Funeral Home. A visitation will precede the service, beginning at one o’clock. Interment will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.

At a Tuesday press conference, Mike Slive announced that he will step down as commissioner of the Southeastern Conference, effective July 31, 2015. Slive is the SEC’s seventh commissioner and has held the position since 2002, yet he told that recent health concerns have made him reevaluate his priorities. Slive said, “I have been blessed in more ways than I can count and I will have as much passion for this job on my last day as I did on my first."
