June 10th, 2013
On June 9, 2013 at approximately 1:15 a.m., the Hot Spring County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Lono “Country Corner” store in response to a 911 call wherein an individual was threatening to shoot deputies, himself and others.
Deputies arrived on scene at approximately 1:30 a.m. and confronted the subject, identified as David Alexander.
June 8th
Since working at the Malvern Daily Record I have been involved with a few tabs, which is short for tabloids. They are the sectional inserts dedicated to certain topics like softball, graduation, volunteers or health.
My favorite tab, that I became involved with, was “Armed Forces Day.” Go figure.
I have just heard about a new tab of ours called “A Day in the Life,” that is coming out in July.
This is going to be cuter than kittens.
Thursday, June 27 has been chosen as “The Day,” that will focus on all of our lives here in Hot Spring County.
June 7th
Helen Burton Miskell, born in Clark County, Arkansas on February 23, 1923, died at her home in Austin, Texas on June 5, 2013 surrounded by family. She was 90 years old at the time of her death.
Helen was one of ten children born to Thomas Abner Burton and Octavia Terry Burton. She is survived by her only sister, Fay Garrett, her youngest brother, Joe Ed Burton, who live in Southern California as well as many extended family members in Arkansas.
Thomas E. Plummer, (US Army, Ret.), age 84 of Malvern, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013.

Marcille Cunningham Daniel, known by nieces and nephews as Aunt Kooter, age 91, of Malvern passed away Wednesday, June 5,2013.
June 5th
I have said it before and I will keep saying it until I am blue in the face — I love what I do.
I just cannot get enough of going out to the fields and getting pictures of the kids playing the sports they love.
That being said, some of what I do depends on you, the reader/parent.
With the sheer amount of leagues and games going on during the summer it is hard for me to get to every venue (my apologies to Bismarck Little League).
Even when I am out and about getting pictures of games, the unbelievable volume of sporting events means that I only get to spend 10 minutes or so at each game.

Earnest “Buck” Reynolds, age 79, of Malvern passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013 at National Park Medical Center.
May 31st
Audie Lee Higgins, 73, passed away Friday, May 31, 2013.
Mildred Ashley Galindo, 71, of Donaldson passed away Wednesday May 29, 2013.
