LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas Game and Fish Commission biologists have put new rules in place in an effort to keep what's known as chronic wasting disease out of the state.
The disease has no known cure and has affected deer in other states.
It has not been found in Arkansas.
Biologists say the new regulations include allowing only certain portions of the carcasses of all species of deer — including elk, moose and caribou — to be brought into the state.
Residents in Hot Spring and Garland Counties have reported phone calls from someone stating they were from a local bank. They then tell the person that their debit card has been hacked or stolen and ask for the number to verify.
Hot Spring County Sheriff Ed Hollingsworth told MDR that anyone receiving a phone call asking for bank information should not give any bank information to the caller. They should call authorities and report such a phone call.
