Delayed arrival of some prisoners to court can delay the judicial process and jeopardize court security, according to some of those involved in the court system. They say the sheriffâ€™s office is responsible for the late delivery of prisoners who are to appear in court.

The Malvern Daily Record is seeking teachers and sponsors to participate in the newspaperâ€™s annual Newspapers in Education (N.I.E.) program. Each school year, the MDR, with the help of community sponsors, sends about 75,000 newspapers into area classrooms, according to MDR Publisher Richard Folds.
The Hot Spring County Quorum Court met Tuesday, Aug. 12 in regular session and approved several bills and resolutions. Among those, justices of the peace voted unanimously to transfer funds from the Unappropriated General Fund to a sheriff's department account. The funds transferred are actually from a check received from Gallagher Bassett insurance for damage to a 2008 Dodge Charger used by the sheriff's department.
Magnet Cove School District will welcome a new superintendent for the 2014-2015 school year, Danny Thomas. The Magnet Cove School Board convened earlier in the year to look for prospective replacements for former superintendent Gail McClure, now retired. After much deliberation, on March 19 the board decided on Batesville native Danny Thomas.
