Firefighters work to douse debris on fire after a Malaysian jet was shot down in Ukraine. Officials say the plane was carrying 295 people.
Number 23, Tyson Cooper, bats for the Malvern Little League All-Stars Friday night against White Hall. Malvern lost 10-0, but bounced back Sunday afternoon with a 23-7 win over Corning. The team plays today at 6 p.m. at the Arkadelphia Youth Sports Complex as they take on Corning.
Rockport voters passed their bond issue in the Tuesday, July 8 election. The final vote was 74-44.
The Science Club was held at the Malvern/Hot Spring County Library Thursday, June 26 and they made Oobleck. Matthew Taber (standing) gave the kids a lesson in fluid dynamics and explained the basic states of matter and their physical properties. Oobleck is a non-Newtonian fluid. It acts like a liquid when being poured, but like a solid when a force is acting on it. It is made out of a mixture of corn starch and water. The Magnet Cove School District recently received a grant for $20,000 from West Central Arkansas Planning and Development District (WCAPDD). The grant will assist the Magnet Cove School District with renovations of the baseball field and purchase new equipment. The WCAPDD General Improvement Fund grant program is to provide funding for community and economic development projects within a 10-county service area. Rep.
