The Hot Spring County flu clinic scheduled for Friday, Oct. 24 at the fairgrounds has been postponed due to a delay in shipmet from the flu vaccineâ€™s distributor. The new flu clinic date will be announced as soon as it is rescheduled.
The Arkansas Department of Health recommends getting a flu vaccine wherever it is available and says it is important for pregnant women to get the vaccine. Individuals wishing to get the vaccine at the county health unit should call (501) 332-6972 to ensure it is available.
LITTLE ROCK â€“ Routine bridge inspections will require lane closures on Interstate 30 in Hot Spring County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.
Crews will be inspecting two adjacent bridges about 5 miles west of Malvern. The work will require closing the eastbound and westbound outside lanes between mile markers 92 and 94.

The Malvern Daily Record is celebrating Veterans Day by honoring those who have served in our nationâ€™s military. Submit your service memberâ€™s photo along with name, branch of service, place of service and dates served and also note whether the veteran is living or deceased. Photos are due by Friday, Oct. 31 (no Polaroids or photocopies). Look for information forms in the MDR, or fill one out in the office at 219 Locust Street, Malvern. Veterans will be featured in the Saturday, Nov. 8 MDR.
U.S. Senator Mark Pryorâ€™s Mobile Office will continue its statewide tour to help Arkansans who may be having problems with the Veterans Administration, Social Security, or other services involving the federal government. Pryor invites Arkansans to visit with his staff in Malvern today (Wednesday, Oct. 8), 10:30 a.m. â€“ 11:30 a.m.: Hot Spring County Chamber of Commerce, 213 W. 3rd St.
The Malvern Daily Record invites you to join in its 98th birthday celebration on Tuesday, Oct. 7. The MDR will serve hot dogs, birthday cake and other refreshments beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. The event will be held in the parking lot by the MDR office, 219 Locust Street in Malvern. In addition to refreshments, stop by to register for prize giveaways. We will have two give-aways per hour from noon to 3 p.m.
Recovery efforts are underway at the corner of Overman and Moore streets in Malvern where one person was killed after a tree fell on a home, according to reports.
The victim has been identified as Jonathan Cooper, age 28. A child in the home was rescued without injury, early reports say.
More information will be reported as it becomes available.
The Hot Springs Police Department arrested a Malvern man who allegedly raped a woman inside her car on a mall parking lot on Monday, Sept. 22 at approximately 4:30 p.m. According to KARK, police have charged Larry Lavell Jones, 36, of Malvern, with rape, battery and robbery.
