Last Friday, I penned a column talking about how big of a weekend we were looking at in the world of sports.
Now that it is all in the books, I have to say, it even exceeded my expectations.
It all started on Friday night with the local high school games.
I was a bit surprised to see the Malvern Leopards fall on the road to Mena in the manner in which they did, but that shock was dwarfed by a couple of other games.
I’d have to say the biggest surprise on Friday wasn’t the fact that Poyen beat Magnet Cove, but how dominating the Indians were in that win.

A lot of things have happened in the short history of the Malvern-Glen Rose football series.
One of the things that had never happen before occurred on Friday night — a blowout.
The Malvern Leopards walked into the newly renovated Beaver Stadium and came away with an easy 38-0 win.
It wasn’t the prettiest game ever played, but the Leopards got the job done.
