Phyllis Dial has announced her plans to run for re-election. Dial is a Hot Spring County native and a graduate of Malvern High School. She is the daughter of the late Willard and Iva Mae McDermott Voss and was married to Rick Dial who passed away in May of 2011. She is the mother of three children: Heather Dial Todd, Ben Dial, and Beth Dial and the grandmother of three granddaughters; Hallie Todd, Sarah Dial, and Annemarie Dial.
John Edward Langston announces his candidacy for mayor of the City of Malvern. Langston, a Malvern native, is currently a city employee. Recently, he has contributed to the community by writing policy and drafting supporting documents to bring the city into compliance with the Arkansas Division of Legislative Audit standards concerning the Arkansas Continuity of Operations program. The program is in place to serve as a field guide in responding to and recovering from man-made and natural disasters. In March 2013, Langstonâ€™s work scored the city a 94 percent passing score.
Nuell Dean Nix, 76, of Magnet Cove went to be with the Lord Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Arkansas Hospice of Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Asie Pilgram age 65, of Malvern, AR died Sunday, February 9, 2013 at his home.
Leonard Dale Rice, 71, of Malvern passed away February 8, 2014.

Craig S. Hughes, age 52, of Malvern went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at his home.
Richard Allen Bredensteiner II, 21 of Benton passed away on February 6, 2014.
Theresa Lynn Gilson Hobbs, passed from this earth February 4th, 2014 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, OK after succumbing to a battle with lung cancer.
Today, Feb. 8, Elaine will celebrate her 100th birthday. A party will be held in her honor at the Magnet Cove United Methodist Church, 22292 Hwy. 51, today at 1 p.m. Her children are Ann Smedley (Dick) of Hot Springs and John Watson (Jan) of Conway. No gifts please. (Photo submitted)
