Gina Nikkol Thomason, 31, of Malvern, passed away on October 9, 2014 in El Reno, OK. She was born December 28, 1982 to Teresa (Sturdivant) Thomason Carroll and Basil Allen Thomason.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday October 14, 2014 at Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00 until 7:00 pm. Services will be held on Wednesday October 15, 2014 at Atkinson Chapel at 11:00 am with Bro. Andrew Goodwin officiating.

Interment will follow the service at South Fork Cemetery in Gurdon, AR.

BREAKING NEWS: COUNTY FLU CLINIC POSTPONED

The Hot Spring County flu clinic scheduled for Friday, Oct. 24 at the fairgrounds has been postponed due to a delay in shipmet from the flu vaccine’s distributor. The new flu clinic date will be announced as soon as it is rescheduled.
The Arkansas Department of Health recommends getting a flu vaccine wherever it is available and says it is important for pregnant women to get the vaccine. Individuals wishing to get the vaccine at the county health unit should call (501) 332-6972 to ensure it is available.

BRIDGE INSPECTIONS REQUIRE LANE CLOSURES ON INTERSTATE 30 IN HOT SPRING COUNTY

LITTLE ROCK – Routine bridge inspections will require lane closures on Interstate 30 in Hot Spring County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews will be inspecting two adjacent bridges about 5 miles west of Malvern. The work will require closing the eastbound and westbound outside lanes between mile markers 92 and 94.

The Malvern Daily Record is celebrating Veterans Day by honoring those who have served in our nation’s military. Submit your service member’s photo along with name, branch of service, place of service and dates served and also note whether the veteran is living or deceased. Photos are due by Friday, Oct. 31 (no Polaroids or photocopies). Look for information forms in the MDR, or fill one out in the office at 219 Locust Street, Malvern. Veterans will be featured in the Saturday, Nov. 8 MDR.
