Library served more than 63,000 visitors last year

Recently, Malvern/Hot Spring County Library Regional Director Ashley Parker-Graves presented the library’s 2013 Annual Report to the HSC Quorum Court and to the Malvern City Council as mandated by state law. The report covers information collected from January to December of 2013 and was reported to the Arkansas State Library and the federal government.

Big cat investigation leads to unrelated arrest

After numerous sightings of a large cat around the Hot Spring County, an investigation by Arkansas Game and Fish Commission officers and Hot Spring County sheriff’s deputies led to an unrelated arrest.

MES wins $10,000 in music equipment

June 5, 2014

Malvern Elementary School received a $10,000 grant from “Keys + Kids” Piano Grant Program. Sara Bareilles and the VH1 Save the Music Foundation announced the winners on May 30. MES received a total of $10,000 worth of equipment for their music room. They were awarded a Yamaha NU1 upright hybrid piano, a Yamaha StagePass 600i portable PA system, and a Sure SM58 vocal microphone.

Street repairs

June 5, 2014

A block of Reyburn Road at its intersection with Babcock was blocked off for street work Wednesday morning as crews worked to relieve draining issues along the sides of the street. Street superintendent Glenn McCloud said the city will also be repairing large potholes caused by water buildup and winter weather. Repair will begin next week, weather-permitting, he said.
