Vehicle theft ring suspected

The recent thefts and altered color of several vehicles in the Bismarck area have prompted Hot Spring County Sheriff’s investigators to believe they are part of a theft ring.

Irwin Road residents express concerns

May 12, 2014

Residents of Irwin Road contacted both the county judge and 911 on a Sunday in March, when their road was impassible due to an abundance of mud that developed from highway department dumping. The county sent workers out to repair the road to passable conditions. The residents complaining of all the dust, mud and damage to cars met with Hot Spring County Judge Bill Schrimshire and representatives from the highway department on Thursday, May 8.

Russell awarded state Court Clerk of the Year

Melba Russell, Chief Deputy Clerk for the District Court in Hot Spring County, was recently named the Arkansas Court Clerk of the Year by the Arkansas District and City Court Clerks’ Association (ADCCCA). She received the award at their conference held in Rogers on April 25. “I sure do appreciate the recognition, but I’m one of those people who prefer to stay in the background. It was very nice, though,” said Melba.

Merchants apply for revitalization in A.D.N. program

Malvern merchants are in the process of becoming a member of the Arkansas Downtown Network (ADN). The application process is competitive and Malvern will soon make its presentation to the deciding board. The ADN is part of the Main Street Arkansas network, but the ADN serves a broader base of communities in Arkansas that are honing in on revitalizing their historic commercial core.
