Mada B. Newton died Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock, at the age of 77.
James Ray Mears, age 46, of Magnet Cove, formerly of Sparkman, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014 at Baptist Health Medical Center-Hot Spring County.
Joseph Buck Herndon, age 38, of Bismarck, was fatally injured in a vehicle/pedestrian related accident on March 11, 2014 at East End, Arkansas.
Today at 3:30 p.m., the Malvern Lady Leopards basketball team, one of the most dominant teams to come through Arkansas high school basketball in quite some time will play their final game of the season.
Maudie M. Combs, wife of the late Alonzo W. Combs â€śGreat Thunderbird,â€ť celebrated her 90th birthday, Feb. 27, with celebrations at the Senior Adult Center, karaoke at Philâ€™s Place and a dinner with her son Mitchell at Cracker Barrel in Benton. Maudie has three children, a son Mitchell (Glenda) and daughters Ruzema Hughes (Johnny) and Capella Combs Demoret; five grandchildren, Mitchell Jr., Michael, Layton, Joanie and the late Valena; four great-grandchildren, John, Carlin, Rachel and Kayla; and one great-great-grandchild, Noah.
