Teams from 14 different schools assembled at Malvern High School on Wednesday for the second James King Memorial 7-on-7 Tournament.
The tournament is named for former Malvern Leopard football player James King, who tragically lost his life in 2012. The tournament was started as a way to remember and honor King, who was a beloved member of the community as much as he was a talented football player.
Linda Sue â€śNanaâ€ť Jones age 61, of Bismarck passed away July 9, 2014.
Rockport voters passed their bond issue in the Tuesday, July 8 election. The final vote was 74-44.
Pat Shea, age 80, of Malvern passed away July 8, 2014 at his home.
Dewayne â€śJDâ€ť Loyd, 67, of Malvern passed away July 4, 2014.
Margaret Pierce, age 70, of Malvern passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014 at St. Vincents in Hot Springs.
Gertie Ann Lucy Harp, age 72 of Malvern, died Friday, July 4, 2014 at her home.
Stephen Dickinson, age 59, of Hampton passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014.
The Science Club was held at the Malvern/Hot Spring County Library Thursday, June 26 and they made Oobleck. Matthew Taber (standing) gave the kids a lesson in fluid dynamics and explained the basic states of matter and their physical properties. Oobleck is a non-Newtonian fluid. It acts like a liquid when being poured, but like a solid when a force is acting on it. It is made out of a mixture of corn starch and water. The Magnet Cove School District recently received a grant for $20,000 from West Central Arkansas Planning and Development District (WCAPDD). The grant will assist the Magnet Cove School District with renovations of the baseball field and purchase new equipment. The WCAPDD General Improvement Fund grant program is to provide funding for community and economic development projects within a 10-county service area. Rep.
