On Monday, Malvern’s baseball and softball teams made a trip to Little Rock to take on Central Arkansas Christian in a conference matchup.
The Lady Leopards came from behind to win their game 9-8, but the Leopards couldn’t mount a big enough rally and fell by the score of 3-2.
In the softball game, Malvern scored the first run in the top of the first inning when Macy Holyfield reached on a base hit and was driven home by a Koree Walsh double.
Tayonna Bailey was on the mound for Malvern and held CAC scoreless in the first inning.
At the end of the work day today my vacation will start and by this evening I will be in New York City enjoying all the city has to offer.
Being a sports guy, my list of things to do in the Big Apple include a trip to Madison Square Garden to see the Knicks play, as well as Yankee Stadium for a Yankees game.
If time permits, I may even try to take a train down to Boston to visit Fenway Park and see the Green Monster in person.

April 11th
Zephaniah Ramel Archie passed away Monday April 8, 2013.
Hueston “Mac” McJunkins, Sr., age 71, of Malvern passed away Monday, April 8, 2013 at his home. He was born April 7, 1942, in Little Rock.
E. Dail Stiles, age 70, died at St. Vincents Medical Center on April 9, 2013.
Rev. Samuel Edward Elrod, age 88, of Malvern was called Home on Tuesday, April 9, 2013.
The 2012-2013 season was a good one for the Malvern Lady Leopards basketball team.
Not only did they win the 4A state championship with a record of 32-2, they were virtually unstoppable the rest of the season as well, picking up win after win and tournament title after tournament title.
Some of the accolades that came the Lady Leopards’ way during the season included being the champions of the Spa City Shootout, 7-4A Conference champion, district champion and regional champion.
Individual Lady Leopards also were also recognized for their play during the year.
All my life I have been a huge basketball fan (Arkansas for most of that time), but I have always had a core group of teams that I absolutely despised.
It didn’t matter who these teams were playing, I always rooted for their opponent (unless of course it was one of my other hated teams).
But once I started to think about it, I noticed that all of the teams I had a grudge against had something in common — aside from being the perennial “super teams” — the primary color for each of these schools was blue.

The Malvern Country Club began its 2013 Friday Night Scramble season on Friday, March 29.
On the second night of play (Friday, April 5), Frances Diffie recorded her first hole-in-one on the 12th hole.
As for the remainder of the tournament, first place finishes went to Reggie English, Ronnie English, Fred Simmons, Roy Honeycutt and Derek Baker.

April 10th
The Bismarck Lady Lions softball team had an up and down week this week.
On Monday, they went on the road and blasted Prescott 14-3, but they fell to Benton Harmony Grove 4-2 in a game that was shortened to five innings because of lightning concerns on Tuesday.
In the Prescott game, the Lady Lions wasted little time asserting their dominance, taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Prescott would answer in the bottom half of the inning to cut the lead to 2-1.
From there it was all Bismarck.
