Margaret Pierce, age 70, of Malvern passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014 at St. Vincents in Hot Springs.
Gertie Ann Lucy Harp, age 72 of Malvern, died Friday, July 4, 2014 at her home.
Stephen Dickinson, age 59, of Hampton passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014.
The Science Club was held at the Malvern/Hot Spring County Library Thursday, June 26 and they made Oobleck. Matthew Taber (standing) gave the kids a lesson in fluid dynamics and explained the basic states of matter and their physical properties. Oobleck is a non-Newtonian fluid. It acts like a liquid when being poured, but like a solid when a force is acting on it. It is made out of a mixture of corn starch and water. The Magnet Cove School District recently received a grant for $20,000 from West Central Arkansas Planning and Development District (WCAPDD). The grant will assist the Magnet Cove School District with renovations of the baseball field and purchase new equipment. The WCAPDD General Improvement Fund grant program is to provide funding for community and economic development projects within a 10-county service area. Rep. Barbara Elkins, 80, of Baytown was born March 31, 1934, in Malvern, AR and passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014 in a local hospital.
