Glen Rose found itself down early after Little Rock Episcopal’s offense took over in the first quarter.

In the first half the game, the story was the Malvern defense stopping Arkadelphia at almost every turn and holding the Badgers offense scoreless in the first two quarters.
In fact, the only Arkadelphia score came on a long punt return by the Badgers.

Junior Panthers win conference championship

November 12, 2014

On Tuesday, Nov. 4, the Magnet Cove Junior Panthers football team traveled to Cutter Morning Star to take on the Junior Eagles with the 5-2A Conference title on the line.
The Junior Panthers’ defense stood tall to get the 18-0 shutout on the road to secure Magnet Cove’s eighth win in a row to improve their record to 8-1 overall and stay perfect in conference play with a 7-0 record.
The defense set the tone of the game for the Junior Panthers when Cade Asher intercepted a pass on the Junior Eagles’ 30-yard-line.

Lions fall to fifth place with loss

November 12, 2014

The Bismarck Lions (4-6, 2-5 in the 5-3A Conference) saw their regular season end with a 41-26 loss on the road against the Centerpoint Knights (4-6, 4-3 in the 5-3A Conference).
But unless the Glen Rose Beavers pull off the upset on the road against the Little Rock Episcopal Wildcats, Bismarck will be going to the playoffs as the No. 5 seed in the 5-3A Conference.
Bismarck held its own against Centerpoint for much of the first half, and the Lions even held a 20-19 lead at one point before the Knights’ offense came alive in the second half.

The Poyen Indians (6-4, 5-2 in the 5-2A Conference) saw their five-game winning streak snapped at home by way of a 15-13 loss to the England Lions (8-2, 5-2 in the 5-2A Conference), but the Indians were able to earn the No. 2 seed from the conference thanks to a three-way tie-breaker with England and Magnet Cove.

Glen Rose dominates on Senior Night

November 4, 2014

It was senior night at Glen Rose on Friday, Oct. 31, but it was the younger crowd that helped lead the Beavers (2-7 overall, 2-4 in the 5-3A Conference) to a 30-7 victory over the Horatio Lions (0-9 overall, 0-6 in the 5-3A Conference).
It was not the Glen Rose offense, nor its defense that got the first score of the game. Facing a fourth down deep in its own territory, the Lions elected to punt, but the snap went through the hands of the punter, forcing him to kick it out of the back of the end zone for a safety and a 2-0 lead for Glen Rose with 7:34 to go in the first quarter.

Bismarck sunk by Prescott 52-14

November 4, 2014

The Bismarck Lions (4-5 overall, 2-4 in the 5-3A Conference) could not keep up with the overpowering Prescott Curley Wolves (9-0 overall, 6-0 in the 5-3A Conference), falling by the score of 52-14 at home on Friday, Oct. 31.
Prescott was the first to put points on the scoreboard, finding the end zone on a 40-yard pass with 10:48 remaining in the opening stanza to go up 7-0.
Bismarck would have an answer for that score with a 75-yard touchdown scamper by Zack Roberts. The point-after attempt was no good and the Curley Wolves retained the lead at 7-6 with 9:00 left in the first quarter.
