Circus sees good turn out despite relocation

The Malvern Area Kiwanis hosted the Kelly Miller Circus for two performances on Sunday, March 30. Despite the change of venue from the Malvern Moose Lodge to Sykes parking lot, Susan Lafond, president of Kiwanis was pleased with the turnout. “We believe that the visibility increased attendance. We had to use social media to spread the word about the last minute change. The ringmaster held each show several minutes to allow for those that had not heard about the change of location to find us,” said Lafond.

According to Lafond not only was the turnout good, but the funds raised go to support the children in Hot Spring County. The Kiwanis donates to or sponsors the Arkansas Rice Depot, Victory Youth Explosion, HannaGrace’s gift, the Malvern Boys & Girls Club and the Jr. Babe Ruth. They have purchased playground equipment for Wilson Intermediate School and have donated money to a Malvern Public School student who is trying to earn money to participate in the People to People Ambassador program. “We also adopted four families at Christmas. We were able to provide gifts and a gift card from Food Center to each family,” Lafond said.
