at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born on October 25, 1943 in Malvern, Arkansas, to the late Johnny and Hilda Lackey. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Frances (Collins) Lackey; three children, Donna Wallace (Jeff) of Donaldson, Ronnie Lackey (Nikki) of Malvern, and Ronda Swayze (Ron) of Hot Springs; six grandchildren, Brad Lackey (Lisa) of Hot Springs, Jonathan Lackey (Whitney) of Malvern, Kourtney Matlock (Zack) of Sherwood, Colt Swayze of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Hunter Wallace of Donaldson, Zane Swayze of Hot Springs; four great-grandchildren, Zeke Lackey, Reese Lackey and Landrie Lackey of Hot Springs, and Gracie Hatfield of Bedford, Indiana; and a Sister, Lynda Shannon of Bedford, Indiana.
In his life, he reflected back to his “best years” as the days spent on the ball field coaching his daughter and his grandchildren in softball and baseball. He spent over 20 years of his life dedicated to young adults in Hot Spring County in various volunteer settings, coaching his teams to many championships, and displaying his trophies proudly. He was always very pleased to see one of his players succeed and felt proud to have been a part of their life. He was very loved by “his girls” and “his guys” throughout the years. Don also loved hunting and lived for deer season. The outdoors was the closest place to God in his eyes and he loved spending time there. He enjoyed life each and every day and was of the Baptist faith.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, February 5 from 6-7:30pm at Regency Funeral Home in Malvern.
Services will be held Wednesday, February 6 at Regency Funeral Home in Malvern at 2:00pm with Brother John Owen officiating. Burial to follow at Rockport Cemetery.
