Glen Rose’s Wright finishes third at nationals

Glen Rose junior Aimee Wright represented Arkansas well at the 2014 USAW Girls Folkstyle Nationals over the weekend, coming away with a third-place finish in the 18U division.

Last year, Wright competed in the 15U division and finished in second place.
Wright started the tournament off with a pin over a New York City wrestler.
In the second round, she pinned a wrestler from Team Kansas, which put her in the quarterfinal round.
Wright picked up a 9-2 decision over the Minnesota wrestler to earn a spot in the semifinal round, where she would pick up a 3-0 decision over her opponent.
In the championship match, Wright would fall to Kayla Miracle (of Indiana), a six-time national champion and world silver medalist.
One distinction Wright has over all the other wrestlers in the field was that she was the only opponent that Miracle could not pin.
