Golden Sunshine

Shirley Hamilton

I woke to golden sunshine
It bathed me in it’s rays
Made me know that even I
Could brighten
someone’s days

I smelled the
blooming flowers
They bowed to me and said
Find a sad and hungry child
You give him love and bread

I heard the bluebirds singing
So cheerful and so sweet
Telling me to spread
some cheer
To all that I may meet
I heard the welcome raindrops

Falling on dry ground
Tapping out a message clear
Look for good that
you can do
While traveling life’s highway
