Lady Panthers finish second in tournament

December 12, 2013

The Magnet Cove Lady Panthers were just a few seconds away from doing something they couldn’t do last season — defeat Spring Hill.
The 2012-2013 Magnet Cove senior girls squad put together a months-long winning streak last season book-ended by losses to Spring Hill.
The Lady Panthers lost to Spring Hill twice in December last year and did not lose again until they faced the Lady Bears in the 2A state tournament.
In the championship game of the Summit Bank Shootout Wednesday night, the Lady Panthers had a chance to change that, but came up a couple of seconds short in a 49-48 loss.
The two teams were tied 10-10 at the end of the first quarter, but Spring Hill started to pull away in the second quarter and led 25-20 heading into the halftime break.
