Leopards eye another trip to War Memorial Stadium

November 21, 2013

The similarities between this year’s Malvern Leopards’ team and the 2011 team that advanced to the 4A state championship game at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock are staggering.
That season, Malvern lost one nonconference game to Hot Springs Lakeside and finished second in the 7-4A Conference after falling to an overpowering Pulaski Academy team.
The 2011 squad was also known for its tremendous defense, imposing its will on each and every playoff opponent.
Fast-forward two years and we see a very similar Leopards’ team.
They lost a nonconference game to Hot Springs Lakeside and finished second in the 7-4A Conference after a loss to Arkadelphia, which is one of the top teams in the state this year.
Just like Pulaski Academy, the Badgers are an intimidating team, applying the sportsmanship rule to almost every team they have played this season.
