Lono shooting leaves one injured

On June 9, 2013 at approximately 1:15 a.m., the Hot Spring County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Lono “Country Corner” store in response to a 911 call wherein an individual was threatening to shoot deputies, himself and others.

Deputies arrived on scene at approximately 1:30 a.m. and confronted the subject, identified as David Alexander.

Upon the arrival of Hot Spring County Sheriff Ed Hollingsworth, Alexander continued to refuse orders to disarm himself. Alexander raised his shotgun at Sheriff Hollingsworth, who then fired one round from his shotgun thereby incapacitating Alexander.

Alexander was air lifted to Hot Springs for medical attention and is stable condition. The incident is currently under investigation by the Arkansas State Police.
