On Monday, Malvern’s baseball and softball teams made a trip to Little Rock to take on Central Arkansas Christian in a conference matchup.
The Lady Leopards came from behind to win their game 9-8, but the Leopards couldn’t mount a big enough rally and fell by the score of 3-2.
In the softball game, Malvern scored the first run in the top of the first inning when Macy Holyfield reached on a base hit and was driven home by a Koree Walsh double.
Tayonna Bailey was on the mound for Malvern and held CAC scoreless in the first inning.
The Lady Leopards were unable to generate any offense in the second and third innings while CAC managed two runs.
Trailing 2-1 in the top of the fourth inning, Malvern got on the score board again when Natalie White laid down a sacrifice bunt that scored Koree Walsh, who had advanced to third on stolen bases and passed balls.
In the bottom half of the fourth, CAC added four runs on two hits, two walks and two errors by Malvern to put the Lady Leopards in a 6-2 hole.
