Malvern Water Works manager David Coston addresses the finance committee.
David Coston, general manager of Malvern Water Works, opened the Malvern City Council finance meeting Monday night, June 2, with the topic of raising water utility deposits. Coston said he wants to raise residential homeowners’ deposits to $75 from $50. As of now, the renter’s deposit is $75 and MWW wants to raise that to $100. Coston said he wants to increase commercial deposits from $50 to $100. Coston approached the matter of raising the rates as a comparison to paying first and last month’s rent. According to an MDR report of the May finance committee meeting, Coston said there has not been a deposit increase since 1999. The finance committee agreed to present the item to the city council Monday night for consideration.
