No local damage reported from weekend storms

April 29, 2014

Malvern and Hot Spring County escaped damaging storms over the weekend, unlike the destruction a Sunday night tornado brought to Vilonia and Mayfllower. Barbara Key, administrative assistant to the Hot Spring County Judge, confirmed that Monday morning reports from personnel across the county indicated no local damage.

City Street Department Superintendent Glenn McCloud confirmed that the City of Malvern also suffered no damage.
Even electricity-wise, Malvern and Hot Spring County were not very affected by the April 27 storms. “We didn’t have too much of a problem here,” said Entergy representative Mark Hunt. During the day on Sunday, Hunt said there were “eight or nine” Entergy customers without power due to lightning strikes or tree limbs that were blown down on lines. Power to those was restored quickly, Hunt said.
