Ouachita routs Bismarck in five innings

March 26, 2014

On Friday, the Ouachita Warriors baseball team hosted the Bismarck Lions in the Herb Russell Tournament and came away with a 10-0 shutout win in five innings of play.

Ouachita held Bismarck to just three hits in the game, while the Warriors picked up seven hits.
The game was a scoreless tie after one inning was completed, but the game was busted open in the bottom of the second inning when the Warriors posted seven runs.
The third inning was another scoreless one for both teams and Ouachita added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth to invoke the sportsmanship rule after Bismarck was unable to get on the board in the top of the fifth inning.
Andy Swaim was on the mound for Ouachita for all five innings, throwing eight strikeouts while giving up just three hits and one walk.
Trent Smith pitched three and one third innings for Bismarck, striking out one. He gave up six hits, four earned runs and walked five batters.
Blake Hughes pitched the final two-thirds of an inning for the Lions, striking out one while giving up one hit.
