I started Pratt in the first grade, my teacher was Miss Tucker. We remained friends till her death several years ago. Second grade was Mrs. Betty Hunt, the wife of Coach Bill Hunt. I had Mrs. Catherine McCaskill in the third grade. All her students were her "Buttercups".
fourth grade was Mrs. Jewell Myers. She taught us multiplcation tables by dividing the room and the side that had the most people standing won home made rice crispy treats, and we played multiplication bingo, with the same prize for the winners. Fifth grade was Mrs. Cooke and Mrs. Gibbs rounded out my six years of memories. We also had Mrs. Stroud for our music teacher. She made music fun by bringing instruments and teaching us about them and play them. I enjoyed playing out back under the huge tree, where we had houses built from rocks and leaves, we also took dried wood and crushed colored glass and made arrangments and sold them. Life was wonderful back then. I enjoyed Christmas when all the classes would be in the hall singing Christmas Carols before leaving for the holidays. And who could ever forget our Principal Mrs. Lennie Kilpatrick. I will alway remember her standing at the front door to welcome the students every morning with her hands clasp in front of her. Her picture hung on the wall as you entered the front door of the building.

I started at Pratt the year I went into the fourth grade...I made a
lot a wonderful friends there. We went on to graduate in 1969. I do remember playing behind the school under the trees. The tree roots made little "houses" to play in. I also remember playing softball and
cracking my little finger. I have great memories of my school years.
