Pull right for flashing lights

The Malvern Fire Department would like to remind motorists to pull right for emergency vehicles.

Citizens should never try to pull left when emergency vehicles are behind them. This could cause them to strike the vehicle or block the vehicles path.

Citizens should also not stop in the middle of the road. This will only force the emergency responder to pull into oncoming traffic, which is dangerous. Citizens should pull onto the shoulder of find a place to pull out of the way of emergency vehicles.

Emergency responders are legally forbidden from driving in the right hand lane, so motorists should always pull into the right hand lane if possible.

Motorists should not attempt to run a red light if they are stopped at a red light and unable to pull to the right.
