Residents cautioned about burning illegally
Want to burn brush or trash? Need to burn brush or trash? Not a good idea until the county judge says it’s okay.
A burn ban continues in Hot Spring County and several surrounding counties. Surrounding counties still under a ban are Dallas, Clark, Garland and Saline.
"Although we've had some local showers in a few areas in the last 10 days, it hasn't been enough," said Hot Spring County Judge Bill Scrimshire.
Scrimshire said he was still keeping the burn ban in affect until the county received significant rainfall in all areas.
If you burn brush or other items while the county is under a burn ban it is possible that you could be given a citation, that could include a fine, by local law enforcement (police, sheriff or fire) or the Forestry Service.
Recently, local forestry crews contained a large wildfire on Interstate 30 near the Hot Spring/Clark County line.
According to the National Weather Service 10-day forecast, there is a 30 percent chance of rain today and tomorrow. Although Friday seems to be the best day for showers with a 60 percent chance.
