Eagerly anticipating my trip to WMS
Later today I will be at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock to cover the Class 3A state championship game between the Glen Rose Beavers and the Charleston Tigers.
This will be my third trip to the Little Rock stadium for a state championship game, previously getting to go to the 2011 4A title game between Malvern and Pulaski Academy and the 2012 3A championship game between Glen Rose and Harding Academy.

Santa delivers gifts
le organization that works twice a year, around the holiday season, to help provide families with disabled members memorable holiday experiences.
Joel Overton, founder of Able Abilities, had a vision of providing assistance to local families with disabled members, who struggle around the holiday season due to frequent costly medical bills. The organization calls citizens in our local area twice a year, just before Thanksgiving and Christmas, requesting donations. Those same donations go toward buying Thanksgiving meals and Christmas presents to local struggling families.

to receive cash award
Poyen Superintendent Jerry Newton received word on Friday that Poyen Elementary School will receive a cash award from the Arkansas School Recognition and Reward Program. The school will get $25,918.39, Newton said.
The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) administers the program, which recognizes public schools that experience high student performance and student academic growth. High schools participating must also exhibit a high graduation rate. The elementary school ranked among the top 10 percent in the state, Newton said.
