Saturday storms create flash flooding
This past Saturday, May 31, much of the Malvern area saw a tremendous amount of rainfall. According to Robin Halbert, director of 911, Malvern experienced approximately 2 1/2 inches of rain fall in a very short amount of time.
The large amount of water caused an overload of the city’s drainage systen, according to Malvern Street Department Superintendent Glenn McCloud. McCloud said numerous streets in Malvern were closed at some point Saturday due to flooding, including a section of Dyer Street, South Walco Road near Sullenburger Road, a portion of Ridge Road, a small section of First Street and West Page Avenue at Vine Street.
