By Steve Good
A hit-and-run accident late Sunday in Garland County that claimed the life of a Hot Spring County woman is under investigation, according to an Arkansas State Police preliminary fatality crash report.
The report said 30-year-old Shanna Dawn Smith, of 329 Clardy St., Malvern, allegedly ran from an apartment complex at 3357 Hwy. 270 in Hot Springs and sat down in the eastbound lane of traffic about 9:51 p.m.
Smith was reportedly struck by an unknown vehicle and dragged about 100 feet from the point of impact, the report says.
ASP Trooper Michael Read’s report said road conditions were listed as dry and the weather clear at the time of the incident.
