The Hot Spring County Quorum Court is set to consider four bills and two resolutions at its monthly meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday at the HSC courthouse.
The court will consider Bill #08-38, which proposes appropriating $21,140.92 from unappropriated County General funds to County General Fund – Elections. Under the terms of the proposed bill, $13,478.68 will be appropriated to the Election Systems line item and $7,662.24 will be appropriated to the Pollworkers line item. The proposed bill says this funding is from a check from the state reimbursing the county for election expenses in the February Preferential Presidential Primary. The proposed bill got a do-pass recommendation from the court’s Budget and Finance Committee and is scheduled to be introduced by District 10 Justice of the Peace Harold Thornton. Under the terms of proposed Bill #08-39, the quorum court will consider accepting a road into the county’s road system. The bill identifies the road as Summer Oaks Boulevard in Summer Oaks Subdivision. The bill got a do-pass recommendation from the court’s Road Committee and is scheduled to be introduced by District 11 JP Jay Sheets. Proposed Bill #80-40 would enact an ordinance levying a one-half of one percent sales and use tax within Hot Spring County. Under the terms of the proposed bill, the half-cent tax would expire in 60 months. The tax would be used for the Hot Spring County Medical Center and related health care facilities. The bill got a do-pass recommendation from the county’s Boards and Commissions Committee and is scheduled to be introduced by District 6 JP Sonny Crumby. Proposed Bill #80-41 is a companion bill to Bill #80-42 and calls a special election for Sept. 9 on the question of the levy of the half-cent sales and use tax. The bill got a do-pass recommendation from the county’s Boards and Commissions Committee. It, too, is scheduled to be introduced by Crumby, The court members will also once again take up the issue of filling two seats on the HSC Solid Waste Authority Board of Directors. Proposed Resolution #08-10 reappoints Gregory Crain to his position on the board for a five-year term ending in 2013. Proposed Resolution #08-11 reappoints Dennis Nix to his position on the board. He, too, would serve a five-year term ending in 2013. Crumby is scheduled to introduce both appointment resolutions. Both got a do-pass recommendation from the court’s Boards and Commissions Committee.
