Senior Activity Center news
Thursday, 17 July 2008

By Ann Ashcraft - Guest Columnist
On Monday, July 14 the Yesteryear Band played music for the members at the Senior Center.  Those participating were Glen Martin on lead guitar and vocals, JoAnn Martin on mandolin and vocals, Pete Whatley on guitar and vocals, Doyle Watson on bass, Breana on fiddle, Orville Louton on fiddle, Mutt Efird on mandolin and vocal and Raymond Ray on banjo and vocals. Love that music.
Following lunch on Monday, July 14 we had a wonderful treat. Howard Cranford, Carl Cunningham, Odis Brumley and Doris English made freezers of homemade ice cream and there was an ample supply of homemade cakes made by many women who were attending the Senior Center. Thanks to everyone for volunteering your time and talents.
Ann Ashcraft enjoyed having her grandson, Drew Theriot, from Baton Rouge, La., visit her last week. It was a real treat to have him.
Malvern Buick/Pontiac donated a car(1999 Mercury Concorde) to the Senior Activity Center to be given away on July 31. Tickets are available from members of the Senior Center or the office at the Center. Tickets are available for $2.00 each, six for $10.00, or 12 for $20.00. If more information is needed, call 337-5374.
COMMODITIES will be distributed on Thursday, July 24 and Friday, July 25 at the Senior Activity Center, 1800 W. Moline St., Malvern, AR. For more information call 337-5374.
Condolences are sent to Dee Wood in the death of her brother in Iowa.
This week’s activities at the Senior Center are  bingo, exercise, choir practice, auction, pool, music and good food. Come join us and see for yourself what you have been missing.
The Senior Activity Center is a program of the Central Arkansas Development Council.

I am SOOOO EXCITED 2 hear that Malvern may be getting a SKATEBOARD
PARK!!! The preteen/teenagers NEED something to do in this town to help keep them
out of trouble!!!
Crystal Vann - Malvern

...I hate what my town has become. It is run down and nobody wants to put back into the community anymore. Where has all of the money in this town gone? Has it just become a place to raise your kids just long enough for them to get an education and move away to become doctors and lawers in other towns? Have we no more dreamers that want to own their own buisness in the town they grew in?

James Parker - Malvern
