Mr. A. G. Wise, Jr., age 87, of Avinger, Texas, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at his home. He was born in Benton, Arkansas, on March 14, 1921, to the late A. G., Jr. and Lillie D. White Wise. Mr. Wise was reared and educated in Benton, and brought up in the Methodist Church. He later owned and operated a trucking company in Grapevine, Texas. His company did the dirt work when Texas Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, was being constructed in Irving, Texas.
He had been a resident of Avinger, Texas, for the past three years. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War Two, during which time he served at Pearl Harbor. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed going hunting in Colorado. He is survived by three daughters, Jeannie and her husband, Troy Gregory of Malvern, Carly Maxwell of Euless, Texas, and Donna and her husband, Lee Larsen of Grand Prairie, Texas; by two grandsons and one granddaughter. Also preceding him in death was a sister, Beulah Mae Prickett and a grandson, Craig Gregory. At Mr. Wise’s request, no services will be held. Local family assistance is by J. A.
