Bad checks lead to trouble

Lashelle Graham, 24, of Little Rock, waived her jury trial Thursday in Seventh Judicial District Circuit Court in Malvern. Through her attorney, Gregory Crain, she requested a bench trial, which was heard by Judge Chris Williams. 

Graham was accused of  Theft of Property, based on an affidavit written by Detective Randy Neal of the Malvern Police Department. The charge was based on an incident from  June 29, 2007, when a check on a closed account was written to the Sears store in Malvern. Graham was found guilty and was sentenced to five years supervised probation, a $1,000 fine, $150 court costs and was ordered to pay Sears restitution in the amount of $1,525.91.
•Ferrin Pittman Paquette, 24, of Malvern, accepted a plea agreement that was offered to her from prosecutors. Paquette pled guilty to two counts of Forgery II. She received three years supervised probation, a $1,000 fine, $150 court costs and was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $34.50 to Sonic in Malvern.  
•Prosecutors offered a plea agreement to Joshua Don Frye, 26, and Dwight Reece, 19, both of Malvern. Their original charge of Theft of Property was dismissed. Frye and Reece both pled guilty to a charge of Criminal Mischief. Both were sentenced to five years supervised probation, a $1,000 fine, $150 court costs and a $250 DNA fee. Frye and Reece were ordered to make restitution in the amount of $4,879 to two separate victims.
•The charge of Theft of Property against Joab Swayze, 22, of Malvern, was nolle prossed. Swayze must adhere to the state’s conditions that he testify against another defendant in the case.
