Nora Mae Walters Clark, 100, of Bryant, passed away Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008. She was born Oct. 22, 1907, in Wyandotte, Ark., in Hot Spring County. During World War II, Nora was employed by the Jacksonville Ordinance Plant manufacturing ammunition for the war effort.
She was a long time employee of and retired from Timex, Inc. of Little Rock. Currently a member of Parkview United Methodist Church in Benton, Nora was previously a member of Geyer Springs United Methodist Church in Little Rock. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nat Clark; her parents, Jennie Carver Walters and James Walters; her brothers, Sam Walters, Robert Walters and Jewell Draper; her sisters, Ethel Little and Corrine Franklin; her daughter, Virginia Mae Burks; her son, James T. Burks; her grandson, Roger Burks; and her granddaughter, Yolanda Burks Planellas. Survivors include her son, Bobby G. Burks (Lois) of Benton; her granddaughter, Linda Burks Harp (Gordon) of Colleyville, Texas; great grandchildren, Matthew and Luke Harp of Colleyville, Texas, Austin Smith of Longview, Texas, and Shelley Planellas of New Orleans, La.; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the staff at Fox Ridge Estate for their kindness and ongoing concern for Nora’s comfort. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home, 10200 Hwy 5 North, Alexander, AR (501-455-1067). Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
