Car slams into scooter sending female to HSCMC
Monday, 04 May 2009

Friday morning, at 5:10 a.m., the Malvern Fire Department was dispatched to the 1100 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard for a spill clean-up from a motor vehicle accident that had occurred.
Upon arrival firefighters observed the fluid spill where the vehicle had impacted the roadway.
The accident which is under investigation by the Malvern Police Department, was caused by an unknown driver of a black Ford Fusion striking an individual riding a motorized scooter on Martin Luther King Boulevard. Detective Randy Neal of the Malvern Police Department stated that the female subject was driving her scooter south on Martin Luther King Boulevard when the driver of the black Ford Fusion, also headed south on Martin Luther King Boulevard, struck the scooter from behind and left the scene after the impact.
ProMed Ambulance Service was on scene and had loaded a female subject and readied her for transport to the Hot Spring County Medical Center.
Firefighters applied absorbent to the fluid spill from the vehicle.
Once the spill was cleaned up, the fire department stood by until the wrecker service arrived and  removed the scooter from the roadway.
Once the roadway was cleared, the fire department went back into service at 5:37 a.m.
The female subject is currently being treated for her injuries and remains hospitalized at the time of this article.
Detective Neal asks that if anyone has any information about the accident, or knows the identity of the driver of the Ford Fusion, or knows of its location, to contact the Malvern Police Department at 332-3636.
