Mr. and Mrs. Bill McKee of Benton are proud to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Lauren Elizabeth McKee, to Dr. John Carlo Barr.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill McKee of Benton. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Czarina Acuff of Conway and the late Mr. Charles Acuff, and Mrs. Marianna McKee of Fort Smith and the late Mr. Louis McKee.
Lauren is a 1999 honors graduate from Benton High School. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a Bachelors degree in American Sign Language. In 2006, Lauren graduated summa cum laude from The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville with a Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling with an emphasis in Deafness. She is a contract sign language interpreter.
The prospective groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Burton Barr of Malvern. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Luis F. Acevedo of Colombia, South America, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Hy Barr of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
John is a 1999 honors graduate from Malvern High School. He obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in Microbiology, with departmental honors – Magna Cum Laude from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. In 2007, John graduated Alpha Omega Alpha with his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He is currently a 3rd year Neurosurgery resident at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Mass.
The couple will be united in marriage on May 8, 2010, at Pulaski Heights First United Methodist Church in Little Rock.
