Smith has re-election on agenda
Tuesday, 09 March 2010

By Mark Bivens — Editor
Steve Smith has announced his intentions to campaign for re-election to the Malvern City Council, Ward 3, Position 2. “I will remain committed to serving the citizens in Ward 3 and ensuring the quality of services that the city has to offer,” Smith said. “I met with many of you this past year over drainage issues, and I will continue to address those.”
Smith said under the present tough economic times, “we need to tighten our belts on spending.”
“The City of Malvern has done an outstanding job of this where other cities have struggled,” Smith said.  “Our leadership (Mayor Steve Northcutt) and the Council have made many sound decisions that have kept Malvern among the best in Arkansas. I am proud of the many accomplishments that we have made. The completion of the River Park facilities are nearing. This park will cater to all ages and is something the citizens cane be proud of.”
Smith has been in law enforcement for 25 years and says one of his priorities is making the safety of the citizens in Ward 3 and all of Malvern through supporting the Malvern Police Department, Malvern Fire Department, Street Department and Water Department.
“All these departments have excelled over the years and are second to none,” Smith said. “As an alderman I feel I have made solid decisions and I would like to continue promoting our city and serving the citizens of Ward 3. I will not waiver from tough decisions and you will always have your voice heard as your alderman in Ward 3.”
Smith’s wife, Lisa, and his children have called Malvern home for 25 years.
