By Ann Ashcraft — Guest Columnist The birthday celebration for February was held on Friday, Feb. 26.
It was a great day for those with birthdays in February. The table was decorated in red and white (Valentine) and at each place was a decorated cupcake, furnished by the Hot Spring County Extension Homemakers Council. Each person was served their meal. The youngest and oldest man and woman were honored with a corsage and boutonniere, compliments of Ken and Marty Henry. The oldest man was L.C. Henderson and the oldest woman was Annie Harrison. The youngest man was Glen Galloway and the youngest woman was Billie Wilson. Congratulations to the February birthday people. Thanks to Pete's Band for presenting music for the Senior Center on Monday, March 1. Congratulations to Robert “Hoss” and Carolyn Ireton for becoming great-grandparents. A daughter, Aubrie Hunter Blaze Cranford was born Feb. 18 to Robby and Kody Cranford. "Best Wishes" to all. A few words from Margaret, director of the CADC Senior Activity Center: "We will be starting our fund-raising campaign beginning this month through May. As all of you know the government has not increased our funding in several years but prices on everything have risen. You all have been wonderful in the past to come to our rescue, and I feel like you will again. If you can make a one time donation, which is tax deductible to the Senior Center, it would be appreciated.” “I want to personally thank each one of you who volunteer or just attend the Senior Center for making it such a wonderful place for seniors to see old friends and make new ones. Remember, you don't stop laughing because you grow old; you grow old because you stop laughing. Invite a friend to come join us and share in our fun." The AARP Tax Preparers will be at the Senior Activity Center each Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. They are there to help you fill out your income tax forms. The usual activities are still going on at the Senior Activity Center. There's bingo, bridge and other card games, exercise, educational information, good music, a wonderful library with lots of books to read, special entertainment, auction first, second and third Friday of each month, good food, computers, blood pressure and blood sugar checks each week and a lot more. I am sure you can find something to do if you would just come and visit the Senior Activity Center. The Senior Activity Center is a program of the Central Arkansas Development Council.
