The 2008 Miss Brickfest Pageant is on June 14, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church, 1421 S. Main Street, Malvern, Ark. It is sponsored by ESA Sorority: Alpha Omega Chapter.
ESA is a non-profit philanthropic organization. The money generated by this pageant is returned to the community in many ways. ESA actively supports the library, hospital, museum, R.O.S.E., Malvern Boys and Girls Club, Little League, local soldiers deployed to Iraq and many needy families and children in the area. The pageant is the largest money raising event they hold. Age divisions for the competition are Little Miss, Petite Miss, Young Miss, Junior Miss and Miss Brickfest. Little Miss if for ages 4 to 6 years old. The contacts are Marge Green (332-8753) and Carol Morris (337-9311). Petite Miss is for ages 7 to 9 years old. The contacts are Ann Salisbury (337-0788) and Charlesa Black (467-8115). Young Miss is for ages 10 to 12 years old. The contacts are Pearlie Walker (332-4685) and Mary Stevens (778-3104). Junior Miss is for ages 13 to 15 years old. The contacts are Amy Kenher (337-3087) and Shelia Collins (844-9356). Miss Brickfest is for ages 16 to 19 years old. The contacts are Nikki Lackey (332-6446) and Connie Cheatham (337-1692). Contestants in the Miss Brickfest Pageant in all age groups must be a legal resident of Hot Spring County or attend a school in Hot Spring County or be a legal resident of the Poyen School District or attend a Poyen School District school. Registration forms will be available at the Malvern/HSC Chamber of Commerce office beginning Wednesday, May 7. You can also come to one of the sign-up dates and fill out a form there. All forms are to be turned in at the sign-up location or to any ESA member listed on the application. Sign up dates are May 8 and 22 and June 5 from 5:30- 7 p.m. in the OTC Board Room. Contestants are judged, among other things, on poise, stage presence and personality. The only dress requirements are an evening gown. In addition, the Junior Miss and Miss Brickfest divisions must participate in an interview with the judges. The judges are Miss Arkansas Pageant accredited and from out of town to avoid any biases. Also, the names are kept secret until the event. They perform their duties with the utmost professionalism and fairness. In the Little Miss, Petite Miss and Young Miss divisions, awards are given to the winner, the first runner-up and to the most photogenic. In the Junior Miss and Miss Brickfest divisions, the same awards are given with the addition of an award for congeniality. |
