The Poyen Indians won 6-5 over Hermitage in the first round of the State Tournament yesterday at historic Taylor Field in Pine Bluff.

Poyen trailed 2-1 going into the fourth, but a 2-run homerun over the high fences by Jordan Batchelor regained the lead for Poyen, 3-2.
Hermitage rallied for 3 runs in the fifth to take a 5-3 lead, but the Indians matched them to resurrect their 1 point advantage.
They held on in the final 2 innings for the 6-5 win.
Wesley Crutchfield threw 5 strikeouts in the first two innings, but a hard ground ball hit off his ankle in the third inning. He came off the mound soon after. Cameron Holland was the reliever. He pitched the game’s final 4 and a half innings.
Poyen advances to the quarterfinal round with the win. They will play Dierks today at noon at White Hall High School.
