Lorene Draper Posey Lester, age 90, of Malvern passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008, at her home. Lorene was born Jan. 26, 1918, in Hot Spring County, Ark., to the late George and Susie (Wetherington) Draper, the youngest of six children who are all deceased. In 1934, she married the late Reed Posey. They were blessed with six beautiful daughters and 28 wonderful years, until his death in 1961. In 1976, she married the late Jessie Lester and remained married to him until his death in 1991.
Lorene was a homemaker and was a member of and loved attending Fair Haven Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to the Senior Adult Center, where she loved to play bingo, dominoes and Skip Bo. On Thursday afternoons, she would meet up with her daughters to drink coffee, eat sweets and play games. She also loved being outdoors, appreciating God’s handiwork, watching the birds and admiring all the beautiful flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Reed Posey and Jesse Lester; two brothers, Floyd and Erwin “Red” Draper; three sisters, Effie Hall, Bessie Alby and Margaret Frances and grandson Wilton Ledbetter. Lorene is survived by her six daughters, Patricia Keisler, Beverly Ledbetter (Milton “Pete”) and Sonya Nix (Burrell) all of Malvern and Elaine Rice, Brenda Burnett (Mitchell) and Janet Daily (Jerry) all of Donaldson; 17 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins and countless friends. Visitation was Sunday, May 11 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. at Regency. The family gathered at the home of Jerry and Janet Daily, 309 Front Street in Donaldson. Funeral Services will be Monday, May 12 at 2 p.m. at Regency Funeral Home Chapel with Brothers Ronnie Hardin and Milton Paredes officiating. Mrs. Lester was laid to rest at Pleasant Hill Cemetery on Highway 222, six miles east of Donaldson. Pallbearers were grandsons, Robert Rice, Doug Burnett, Barry Keisler, Tony Nix, Monty Ledbetter and Andrew Daily. Memorials may be made to the Malvern Senior Adult Center. The family would also like to thank the wonderful hospice nurses, Amy, Billie, Joe, Patricia and Teresa and also her caregivers Ann, JoAnn, Dr. Julia Flick and granddaughter, Tammy, who gave Lorene such great love and care.
