Vacationers seek lemonade
Wednesday, 14 May 2008
It takes a resourceful person to take lemons and make lemonade. Let’s be as resourceful as possible today as we enter a summer unlike many of the past.

Gas prices have people altering their vacation plans, if not totally eliminating the idea of even going on vacation.
Each year Hot Spring County draws tourists from near and far. Lake Catherine and DeGray Lake, thankfully both within the borders of our county, pull in tourists from surrounding states, particularly Texas and Louisiana. Sadly those two popular destinations are often overlooked by people within our own state.
Now with gas prices quickly sneaking up on $4 a gallon, people are wondering if going out of state for vacation is feasible.
With that, many might be considering staying a little closer to home. Those trips to Florida or the Gulf Coast just don’t seem as attractive as when gas was $1, or even $2 a gallon.
This could be a banner year for vacationers if they pick Arkansas as a destination.
This could benefit Hot Spring County.
