Does anybody have any fishing tips?
I’ve gone to the river and/or the lake about four times over the past week, and I haven’t caught a thing. I talked Friday with J.D. Mitchell, one of the men in charge of the Thursday night tournaments held on Lake Catherine, and he told me that last week’s tournament was won with about 4 pounds of fish. That made me feel a little better. Friday evening, however, I was coming off the lake (empty-handed as the recent usual) and I noticed a man looking through his livewell in Jack’s Landing (Remmel Dam Park), Lake Catherine. He had caught a nice load. He probably would have told me what he was using, but I failed to ask. I’ve asked a few people fishing from the bank what they were using and what they were trying to catch. Most of them were using some sort of live bait or catfish bait, but they say they’re just trying to catch whatever will bite. Their buckets were empty, too. I’ve heard that walleye were hot below Remmel Dam, but I tried that, too. I’ve even tried following Arkansas Game and Fish Commission fishing reports. That’s probably some of the best advice, but it never seems to work for me. Nothing does. So — do any of you avid anglers have any pointers? Have you had any success? Talk to me.
