On Saturday, the Downtown Athletic Club will announce the winner of Heisman Memorial Trophy Award for the 79th time since its inception in 1935.
Considered one of, if not the most, prestigious individual awards in all of sports, the Heisman Trophy has become an event, stretching out the act of saying a name to an hour-long television show.
When things get warped to fit into that nice little televised viewing block with dozens of sponsorships, there is a bit of pressure to make sure the â€śrightâ€ť people are invited to New York for the presentation.
There was a time where the Heisman was awarded to the most gifted athlete in the land, but that era has long since passed.
