Magnet Cove cross country has good showing

The Magnet Cove cross country teams traveled to Southern Arkansas University on Saturday, Sept. 13 for the Lois Davis Invitational.
The Magnet Cove Junior Panthers finished third out of nine teams and the Magnet Cove Junior Lady Panthers finished fourth overall.
Eighth grader Gabriel Stephens led the Junior Panthers by finishing ninth overall. Seventh grader William Mims finished 15th overall.

Bismarck educators get in on ALS challenge

Bismarck Middle School Principal Michael Spraggins and other district administrators made a big splash with the students recently when they participated in the Ice Bucket Challenge in an effort to raise money, as well as awareness, on behalf of Amyotrophic Lat-eral Sclerosis (ALS). Spraggins said, “The Bismarck schools raised around $500.”

Bismarck High School Principal Larry Newsom was challenged by the Lady Lions basketball team and Coach Chris Oestrich. Newsom then challenged teacher Leah Beckwith.
