Brenda Weldon has announced her candidacy for the position of Mayor of Malvern.

“My vision for Malvern,” Weldon began, “is everyone working together to clean up our city and to work with downtown merchants to clean up and revitalize Main Street and work with law enforcement to stop drugs and crime in Malvern…"

Sykes treats area students to a week at the Ritz Theatre

Malvern City Mayor Steve Northcutt proclaimed May 17 through May 22 as Sykes Kids Week in recognition of the joined efforts of The Ritz Theatre and Sykes to provide movies to the school children of Hot Spring County and surrounding counties. HSC schools rate among top in state

May 23, 2013

According to U.S. News & World Report, area high schools in Arkansas rated soundly on the list of the top schools in the state.
Sheridan High School, in Grant County, was rated ninth among high schools in the state.
Bismarck High School, in Hot Spring County, cracked the top 20 at 19th and Malvern High School was ranked 31st.

Law Enforcement Run for the Special Olympics

May 23, 2013

Members of the Malvern Police Department and the Department of Corrections Ouachita Unit took part in the Law Enforcement Run for the Special Olympics on Wednesday. The run started at the Valero gas station on Highway 270 (near Walmart) and ended at Doyle’s Corner where Highway 270 splits with Highway 67. (Photo available on the MDR website)
